Short and sweet, Gabriela and Simon’s city centre micro wedding
Micro weddings, that’s probably a term you’ve been hearing quite a bit over the last couple of years. These small scale, intimate weddings have increased in popularity since Covid times. As they’re smaller in size (normally less than 20 guests), micro weddings are generally easier on the pocket as well as being lovely and relaxed.
Small and intimate Oxford Register Office wedding
Gabriela and Simon’s micro wedding took place at Oxford Register Office. They were joined by Gabriela’s parents for their very laid back and speedy ceremony. After saying their vows, and signing the register, it was time for confetti.
Now, at this point of a wedding day I normally spend a bit of time corralling wedding guests into some kind of order whilst the wedding party hand out confetti. Even with the best will in the world this organisation can take a good quarter of an hour. I have to say that Gabriela’s parents were a joy to work with! Of course, they did have an advantage as I was only directing the two of them!
They each had a good handful of dried petals and flung it with great gusto as Simon and Gabriela stepped out of the Register Office door. No matter how many, or few, guests you have I’ll always do my best to get you a joyful, colourful confetti photograph. It’s one of my favourite moments of the day!
After taking some pictures in front of the Oxford Register Office building we all made our way over to the stunning grounds of Worcester College for some more portraits and a few family photographs. The 26 acres of wooded grounds and landscaped gardens around Worcester College are perfect for wedding portraits with no shortage of beautiful backdrops and nooks and crannies to explore.
Why book me to photograph your Oxford micro wedding?
As a proud, adopted Oxonian I can’t think of a more picturesque city to spend a couple of hours in on your wedding day. I love these charming streets and you’ll often find me strolling around, taking in the sights and exploring the many backstreets and alleyways. Whenever I stumble across a hidden gem I’ll make a mental note to take a wedding couple there!
Micro weddings at Oxford Register Office usually take place on weekday mornings and the ceremony itself is super short. They generally don’t take any longer than 20 minutes. Which then leaves us with plenty of time to go for a wander around the city – or make our way to a College – for some portraits.
Lots of couples having a micro wedding in Oxford first met whilst attending the University. They love the chance to venture back to the places that meant the most to them when they were studying. Others live and work in Oxford so they have locations that are meaningful to their life in the city. There’s also people who travel from abroad to get married amidst the ‘dreaming spires’.
Whether you know Oxford well, or it’s your first time in the city, let me be your ‘tour guide’ as well as your photographer. Ahead of the day we’ll have a chat about your couple’s portraits and put together a plan to make the best use of our time together.
My micro wedding photography package is perfect for couples wanting a lovely memento of their wedding day, without having to book a photographer to spend the whole day with them. I offer short coverage of around an hour and a half which is plenty of time to capture your ceremony and some relaxed and beautiful portraits. Leaving you to enjoy the rest of your day together as newlyweds!
